About Us
Hands of the People
Hi! I’m Maria Jimenez – the owner of “Hands of the People”. I am a Colombian who moved to the United States in 2011, became a US citizen and have been a resident of Arizona ever since. I feel so fortunate to be in this country and to launch my business here while promoting my Colombian heritage, as well as the unique customs and traditions of my country.
I’ve always appreciated the art and way of life of the indigenous communities within my homeland, so I started this brand to honor them. For the past year, I have been working hard to share with all of you a piece of my Colombian culture through amazing handmade products that are a symbol of my beautiful country.

Happy Customers
What has motivated me to work hard since day 1:
• Being an independent woman
• Helping those in need by giving back to my home country
• Connecting with my roots
• Having a flexible lifestyle to stay close to my family and friends
• Doing something to change the image of Colombia around the world. I have found that introducing these amazing artisans and tribes to the world is the best way for me to do this.
I love what I do and I feel highly motivated to continue this project for many years to come. Thank you for your support and feel free to follow me on my Instagram!
Hands of the People was born with the purpose of promoting the value of handmade unique pieces.
Our artisans create exclusive products using methods and traditions that they have inherited from their past, resulting in beautifully made items.
We sell the most beautiful crossbody and other types of handmade bags, 100% handmade, by indigenous people in Colombia.
These bags are made with the finest raw materials on the market to create an excellent quality product full of colors and incredible designs. Each traditional bag is made by the weaver following their inspiration and can take days or weeks to finish. The process is completely handmade involving an ancient technique that has been passed from generation to generation culminating into unique works of art.
They learn to weave from a very young age. This allows them to show the world their culture and way of life through their amazing creations, while at the same time providing economic support to their family.
MISSION
Our mission is to create a brand that can be identified with values, not just fashion products. We are in a continuous search for new trends and handmade goods that represent quality, originality and a positive social impact. Through our business, we want to shine a light on the different cultures of the world that inspire us, with the goal of helping these communities by always applying a fair price policy.
